Mitford.-- par., township, and vil., Northumberland, at confluence of rivers Font and Wansbeck, 2½ miles SW. of Morpeth, 10,017 ac., pop. 657; township, 1898 ac., pop. 224; P.O.; has ruined massive keep of 12th century; Mitford Castle is the seat of the Mitfords, who owned the manor before the Conquest.
