Danby.-- par., township, and vil. with ry. sta., North-Riding Yorkshire, 7½ m. NW. of Egton -- par., 11,256 ac., pop. 2407; township, 6289 ac., pop. 1304; P.O. Danby Beacon (966 ft.) is 3½ miles NE. of vil., and the ruins of Danby Castle (llth century) stand on an eminence to the S. In vicinity of sta. is the seat of Danby Lodge.
