CHART-NEXT-SUTTON-VALENCE, or Chart-sutton, a parish in Hollingbourne district, Kent; on the verge of the Weald, 4½ miles SSE of Maidstoue r. station. It has a post office, of the name of Chart-Corner, under Staplehurst. Acres, 2, 073. Real property, £4, 868. Pop., 693. Houses, 130. The property is subdivided. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury. Value, not reported.* Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Rochester. The church was much injured by lightning in 1775; but is now good, and has a fine spire.
