Table ID:
OCC_1881_REGC_CODES     (1251869)
Contents:
Names of Registration Counties appearing in occ_1881.
Approx. number of rows:
60
Table type:
Gazetteer
Documentation Author:
Humphrey Southall
Chronology:
The data are for the single year 1881.

Sources:

  1. This data set was constructed by Humphrey Southall in September 2002 by extracting all the unique values of 'regc_code' from 'occ_1881' and then manually appending the county name. In most cases the county was obvious, but in a few cases it was necessary to query other parts of the 'occ_1881' data.

Notes:

  1. As well as the 1881 Registration Counties of England and Wales, this table also includes: "IOM"="ISLE OF MAN", "ADY"="ALDERNEY", "GSY"="GUERNSEY", "JSY"="JERSEY" and "SAR"="SARK". Because there were a few rows in the data supplied by Essex with no values for 'regc_code', this table also includes: "UNK"="UNKNOWN"

Checking:

  1. The values of 'regc_code' were extracted directly from the 'occ_1881' table. No other checking is meaningful.
