In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Fron Goch like this:

FRON-GOCH, a chapelry in Llanfawr, Llandderfel, and Llanycil parishes, Merioneth; 1 mile WNW of Bala r. station, and 13 WSW of Corwen. It was constituted in 1859; and its post town is Bala, under Corwen. Pop., 650. Houses, 107. Pop. of the Llanfawr portion, 413. Houses, 68. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of St. Asaph. Value, £125.* Patron, the Bishop of St. Asapn.
