Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Drumry

Drumry, an estate on the W border of New Kilpatrick parish, Dumbartonshire, 2¼ miles ESE of Duntocher. From the Callendar family it passed in 1346 to the Livingstones, and from Sir James Hamilton of Fynart in 1528 to Laurence Crawfurd of Kilbirnie, ancestor of the Crawfurd-Polloks of Pollok. Some ruins on it have been thought to be those of a chapel which he founded, but more probably are a remnant of Drumry Castle.
