Lany, an ancient parish of SW Perthshire, suppressed, on account of the smallness of the stipend, in 161 5, when part of it was annexed to Port of Monteith. Its ruined church, which belonged to the priory of Inchmahome, and stood within the section annexed to Port of Monteith, is said in the New Statistical Account to bear the date 1214 in Arabic numerals.
