Long, Loch, the north-eastern fork of salt-water Loch Alsh, on the mutual border of Lochalsh and Kintail parishes, SW Ross-shire. It curves 5¼ miles north-eastward,- though its average width is less than ¼ mile; and at its head it receives the Elchaig and the Ling or Long, the latter of which issues from Loch Cruashie (850 feet), dary of the above-named parishes. It is crossed at the mouth by the line of communication from Kyle-Akin to Inverness; and on its Kintail shore are the fishing villages of Dornie and Bundalloch.—Ord. Sur., shs. 71, 72, 82, 1880-84.
