Caerphilly, town with ry. sta., Eglwysilan par., E. Glamorgan, 7 miles N. of Cardiff and 179 miles NW. of London; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Market-day, Thursday; has extensive collieries and ironworks. C. Castle, a magnificent ruin, with leaning tower 80 ft. high, was one of the largest strongholds in the kingdom.
