Newport, town, Kilvellane par., W. co. Tipperary, on river Mulkear, 4 miles E. of Castleconnell ry. sta., 4 miles S. of Birdhill ry. sta., and 11 miles NE. of Limerick, pop. 938; P.O., T.O. Newport gives the title of baron to the Earl of Roden.
