Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Trim

Trim, market and assize town, township, and par. with ry. sta., mid. co. Meath, on river Boyne, 30 miles NW. of Dublin - par., 13,425 ac., pop. 3464; township, 162 ac., pop. 1586; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks. Market-day, Saturday. Trim is the capital of co. Meath, and an ancient seat of the Irish Parliament. It contains a monument erected in honour of the Duke of Wellington, and the remains of an abbey and a castle.
