Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Alfred's Tower

Alfred's Tower, modern monumental structure in Stourhead Park, on borders of Wilts and Somerset, 5 miles NE. of Wincanton. It stands 150 ft. high, on a hill which is 800 ft., and was built to commemorate the achievements of Alfred the Great.
