Cootehill.-- market town and township with ry. sta., Drumgoon par., NE. co. Cavan, on river Cootehill, 88 miles NW. of Dublin -- township, 451 ac., pop. 1789; P.O., T.O., 3 Banks. Market-days, Friday and Saturday; has some linen mfrs., and several corn and flax mills. Lead ore and slate abound in the neighbourhood, but are not much worked. C. is a well-built town, and is situated in a rich district, embellished with many fine seats.
