Katrine, Loch, Callander and Aberfoyle pars., Perthshire, and Buchanan par., Stirlingshire; is 8 miles long, ¾ mile of average breadth, 364 ft. above sea level, and 468 ft. deep; is traversed by a steamer from Stronachlachar (5 miles E. of Inversnaid on Loch Lomond), to a pier at the foot of the loch (1¼ mile W. of Trossachs Hotel and 9½ miles W. of Callander); has abundance of pike and trout. Loch Katrine is the chief scene of Scott's Lady of the Lake; it is also the source of the water supply of Glasgow.
