Lancashire - township (containing parts of Moss Side and Rusholme in parliamentary limits of Manchester), 2502 ac., pop. 11,286; town (comprising Burnage, Chorlton cum Hardy, and Didsbury townships, and part of Withington), 4 miles S. of Central Station, Manchester, 5728 ac., pop. 17,109; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Withington is a local government district, has many fine villas and other suburban residences, and shares in the industries of Manchester. The Lancashire Independent College is situated here.
