Otter, river, Devon; rises on the E. end of the Black Down Hills, at the boundary with Somerset, and flows NW. past Honiton and Ottery St Mary to the English Channel at Otterton, 5 m. SW. of Sidmouth; is 24 m. long, has fine scenery, and is much frequented by anglers.
