GWERNAFIELD, a village, a township, and a chapelry in Mold parish, Flint. The village stands 2 miles N of Mold r. station; and has a post office under Flint. The township includes also the hamlets of Waenrhwyddfyd and Pantymwyn. Real property, £2, 630; of which £14 are in quarries. Pop. in 1851, 1, 002; in 1861, 836. Houses, 202. The decrease of pop. was caused by the stoppage of lead mining operations.—The chapelry is larger than the township, and was constituted in 1844. Pop., 1, 243. Houses, 293. The property is divided among a few. The living is a p. curacy in the diocese of St. Asaph. Value, £200. * Patron, the Vicar of Mold. The church is a poor structure.
