RHYDYBORTHAN, a hamlet in Eglwys-Ilan parish, Glamorgan; on the river Taff, the Glamorgan canal, and the Taff Vale railway, 4¼ miles W N W of Caerphilly. Real property, £5, 814; of which £1, 931 are in mines and £15 in quarries. Pop. in 1851, 1, 412; in 1861, 1, 925. Houses, 405. The increase of pop. arose from the extension of mining and manufacturing operations.
