Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for NORTHAMPTON and MARKET-HARBOROUGH RAILWAY

NORTHAMPTON and MARKET-HARBOROUGH RAILWAY, a railway in Northamptonshire; from the Northampton and Peterborough line in the neighbourhood of Northampton, northward to the Rugby and Stamford line at Market-Harborough, with a short branch south-eastward to Hardingstone. It was authorized in 1853; became amalgamated with the Manchester and Birmingham; and now, with the rest of that system, forms part of the London and Northwestern.
