The tables here are used to convert data from the reporting geography used in the original published report to a different output geography, to permit new comparisons over time. The tables have been created in two different ways. Some tables are derived entirely from other published data: either census parish tables, which sometimes record the relationship between two different sets of districts and/or counties, and boundary change lists. These tables are entirely population weighted. Other tables are derived using information held in our boundary GIS, and these are partly area-weighted. Population-weighted tables have to be based on sources which hold population counts for a single year, so they can only cover relatively short periods. For example, the 'conv_lgd_reg' table was constructed by combining information from the 1911 parish-level table, the inter-censal changes list in the 1921 census (which give 1911 populations for the areas transferred) and the annual lists of changes in the Registrar General's Statistical Reviews for 1921-31 (which again give 1911 populations).
