A vision of Britain from 1801 to now.
Including maps, statistical trends and historical descriptions.
This section of the database contains standard locational descriptors which are used throughout the database (a) as names for fields/columns containing locational information and (b) as values in fields/columns that identify the types of reporting unit, where a table includes information for more than one type of area; for example, Urban Districts and Rural Districts in early 20th century data, or Hundreds and Boroughs in early 19th century data. Place-names are also, of course, locational descriptors but these are listed in gazetteers which are documented elsewhere.
