CROFTON, a parish in Wakefield district, W. R. Yorkshire; on the Wakefield and Knottingley railway, 1½ mile SE of Oakenshaw r. station, and 3¾ SE by E of Wakefield. It includes Birkwood hamlet; and has a station on the railway, and a post office under Wakefield Acres, 1, 504. Real property, £ 2, 7 46. Pop., 402. Houses, 83. The property is divided among a few. The living is a rectory in the diocese of York. Value, £334.* Patron, the Duchy of Lancaster. The church is later English and good; and there are charities £19.
