HUTTON-MAGNA, a village and a township in Teesdale district, and a parish partly also in Richmond district, N. R. Yorkshire. The village stands 1¾ mile S of the river Tees, 4 S by W of Winston r. station, and 6½ SE by E of Barnard-Castle. The township contains also the hamlet of Lane Head, and comprises 1, 510 acres. Real property, £1, 901. Pop., 184. Houses, 40. The parish contains also the township of West Layton, and comprises 2, 080 acres. Post town, Winston, under Darlington. Real property...
, £3, 296. Pop., 266. Houses, 55. The manor belongs to Sir T. A.Constable, Bart. Limestone is worked. The living is a p. curacy, annexed to the p. curacy of Forcett, in the diocese of Ripon. The church is ancient.
