In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Gorbals like this:
Gorbals, par., Glasgow, on S. side of river Clyde, 25 ac., pop. 5567; P.O., called Gorbal's Cross.
The location is that of the name "Gorbals" on modern 1:25,000 maps.
