A vision of Britain from 1801 to now.
Including maps, statistical trends and historical descriptions.
In 1882-4, Frances Groome's Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland described Edinbain like this:
Edinbain, a hamlet in Duirinish parish, Isle of Skye, Inverness-shire, at the head of Loch Grishinish, 10½ miles E of Dunvegan, and 13½ NW of Portree, under which it has a post office, with money order, savings' bank, and telegraph departments. At it are a comfortable little inn, a merchant's shop, a smithy, a ill, a public school, a shooting-lodge, and a slated, stonebuilt hospital, founded and amply endowed by the late Mr Macleod of Grishinish.
This is the only descriptive gazetter entry we have found, but you may be able to find further references to Edinbain by doing a full-text search here.
