In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Walton like this:
WALTON, a hamlet in Kimcote and Knaptoft parishes, Leicester; 4 miles NE by E of Lutterworth. Acres, 1,240. Pop., about 500. Framework-knitting is carried on, and there is a Methodist chapel.
