In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Pennypound like this:
PENNYPOUND, a place in the centre of Somerset; on Sedgemoor, near Weston-Zoyland, 4¼ miles S E of Bridgewater. Fairfax encamped here, in 1645, after the battle of Langport; and the Duke of Monmouth was beaten here, in 1685, by the Earl of Feversham.
No more precise location has been found for Pennypound beyond it being near Westonzoyland, so for now we have given it the location of that village. Additional information about this locality is available for Westonzoyland
