Descriptive gazetteer entries

In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Broadhurst like this:

Broadhurst, hamlet, in par. and 1½ mile N. of Horsted-Keynes, E. Sussex; here Archhishop Leighton, primate of Glasgow (1613-1684), resided for ten years after his resignation of his mitre.

This is the only descriptive gazetter entry we have found, but you may be able to find further references to Broadhurst by doing a full-text search here.
