Here we are presenting statistics for a historical unit, which may have changed its boundaries significantly during the period covered.
This unit changes from being an Urban District in the 1901 Census to a County Borough by the 1911 Census. Although we have not identified the exact date the changes came into force, we have found approximate dates. The London Gazette Friday July 8th 1904 describes the Act in 1905 which amended the Urban District to a Municipal Borough under the Municipal Corporations Act of 1882. The Glamorgan Archives web catalogue gives the date of Incorporation into a County Borough as 1908.
