Total Population 1831 to 1911: Population fell from 15,255 in 1831 to 5,839 in 1911.
Occupational Structure in 1831: Out of 3,537 males aged 20 and over, 2,215 were Farmers not employing Labourers.
Housing in 1851: 27.24 per cent of houses were classed as "Mud cabins having only one room" (the all-Ireland percentage was 13.).
