We have created these time series for the modern local authority area by using a Geographical Information System to re-district statistics for a variety of historical units which covered the same area.
The Isles of Scilly have a unique legal status, and in significant ways are not part of Cornwall. They were listed by the 2001 Census of Population as a District within Cornwall, by the 2011 Census of Population as a Unitary Authority, and are not mentioned in the Cornwall (Structural Change) Order 2008.
