Table ID:
H_DENS_1991_ED     (1250773)
Contents:
Numbers of households living at different densities of persons per room, by enumeration district
Approx. number of rows:
151,719
Table type:
Raw Data
Documentation Author:
Humphrey Southall
Chronology:
The data are for the single year 1991.

Sources:

  1. These data have been extracted from Table 57, 'Household space type; rooms and household size', in the 1991 Small Area Statistics. They were downloaded from the CASWEB system on January 14th, 2016.

Notes:

  1. Note that these data are counts of households rather than of persons. The CASWEB system was checked fairly carefully for data giving numbers of persons in households living at different densities but they could not be found.
  2. The zone_ID value, for England, contains four levels of geography. This example is taken from the RESTORE site:
Areatype County District Ward Enumeration district
    Code 25 JQ FF 11
    Full code 25 25JQ 25JQFF 25JQFF11
Area name Hampshire Test Valley Chilworth and Nursling (Not named)
    Number 46 366 8985 106865
    Mean population 954807 122612 4995 420
  3. In March 2021 the name of the table was updated from hous_1991_ed to be h_dens_1991_ed to more accurately reflect the content.
  4. This table includes enumeration districts for England and Wales and output areas for Scotland.

Checking:

  1. Data are exactly as downloaded. The only checking possible was to confirm that the four categories of households always sum to the total number of households.
